Soak It In
The Short Years of Chaos and Memories
You know that feeling when you’re standing on the sidelines of a soccer game, half-watching, half-scrolling your phone, waiting for the clock to run down? Or when you’re mentally calculating how long you have to stand at a birthday party before it’s socially acceptable to make an exit? Yeah, us too.
But lately, we’ve been trying to remind ourselves—these years? They’re short.
Right now, our lives revolve around carpool schedules, last-minute snack duty, and trying to remember which camp we actually signed them up for. It’s exhausting. It’s chaotic. And yet, it’s also kind of beautiful.
The Days Are Long, But the Years Are Short
One day, we won’t be running out the door trying to make it to practice on time. We won’t be sitting in a freezing arena or on a sun-scorched soccer field, cheering louder than we ever thought we would for a game that, let’s be honest, barely makes sense to us. We won’t be juggling three birthday parties in one weekend or stuffing goody bags the night before because we forgot (again).
And when that day comes, we have a feeling we’ll miss it.
Choosing Joy in the Chaos
We are not saying you have to love every second. It’s okay to be tired. It’s okay to dream about a weekend that doesn’t require five outfit changes and a portable snack station in the trunk of the car. But in the middle of the chaos, we are trying to find moments to soak it in.
The way our kid’s face lights up when they see us in the crowd. The giggles at a sleepover party. The post-game ice cream stops that feel like a little tradition, even if they weren’t planned.
Those little moments? That’s what they’ll remember. And someday, when our calendars aren’t filled with games, camps, and parties, we’ll wish for just one more weekend of it all.
So, here’s to embracing the mess, the madness, and the magic of these short, busy years. Let’s enjoy them while we can. ❤️
Let Us Help
We started Camps N' Rec Kids because, like so many parents, we were tired of juggling tabs, deadlines, and waitlists just to find great programs for our kids. We knew there had to be a simpler way — ONE place where families could easily discover camps, classes, and fun all year long. What began as a passion project for our own families has grown into a resource for ALL parents.
Find your next camp, activity or birthday party idea for your family at Camps N' Rec Kids!
